![]() So it's right off the kitchen and living room. The toy space is what would be our dining room, as the house was designed. The physical play space generally is always messy but it's fine with me because it's out of sight (and messy is kind of how it's "supposed" to be, you know?) We have two play spaces - one with toys and then one for physical play (nugget, climbing triangle, pillows for jumping into, bricks for stacking and knocking over/walking on). I'll tell you my set up first then what I'd do in your situation. I have very strong thoughts about this! Sorry if this goes on and on. My daughter turns three in July and I'm pregnant and due any time now!!! We're the same! Do I donate those to grandmas house (she purchased most of them)? Send them to the basement play area that gets the least use?Īny advice or perspective from other parents would be very much appreciated! How do you handle toys your kid likes but you can’t stand? For me pretty much anything that can make the same noise for 20 minutes straight or she relentlessly makes me play with in the same way back and forth for an extended period of time. ![]() For example we have several matching game sets, similar puzzles, lots of wooden stacking toys of various types, so many balls, several different building sets (wooden blocks, duplo, magnetiles, blockaroo), several food sets (ice cream shop, grill, play kitchen), the list seems to be endless but she plays with all of them. What do you do about duplicate toys? We are obviously saving some toys for her brother but we have several in the same category. Would you keep just the small pieces she plays with and ditch the rest? Keep the full activity until she’s a little older and might be more interested? Our daughter loves to play her own way and doesn’t have the focus to do lead activities which is what the older box focuses on so she plays with pieces and parts but doesn’t always do the activity. ![]() If your kid was gifted a toy subscription box (Kiwico in our case) what do you do with the consistent influx of toys? I’ve kindly hinted that she doesn’t play with the boxes for very long but it fell on deaf ears. Im trying to find a balance of her not getting bored on a rainy day if we’re stuck inside but also maintaining my sanity while I have 0 energy to clean up toys all day every day. I’ve already passed on two giant boxes of toys my daughter doesn’t play with but we still have 4 play spaces in our house and it’s too much. We have a daughter who will be 3 in August and a son coming in June for context. Looking for some advice from anyone that prefers a more minimal home but has little kids. ![]()
